It has been a very long time since we saw a private retail pharmacy being set up in Singapore. Probably we won't see a change in trend anytime soon.

 

On 17th January 2008, more than 100 pharmacists packed the lecture hall of Health Promotion Board to witness the appreciation and attend an CE update on the use of varenicline for smoking cessation.

 

Every year the United States Board of Pharmaceutical Services (BPS) holds certification exams for  pharmacists in specialty areas (pharmacotherapy, oncology, nutrition support, nuclear pharmacy, psychiatric pharmacy). Last year's results were finally released and all the pharmacists from Singapore have passed the exams.

Thailand shelved compulsory licence for Novartis’ Imatinib/GlivecTM. This was decided after the company agreed to provide for free its patented drugs for cancer patients under a major government-sponsored programme which could benefit 48 million people.
