Ms. Chung Wing Lam, BCPS, CGP, Principal Clinical Pharmacist, Watson’s Personal Care Stores Pte Ltd is the 2015 PSS- LF Asia Community Pharmacist of the Year.

Ms. Chung received her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy with Honours from the National University of Singapore. She obtained her Board Certification in Pharmacotherapy (BCPS) in 2012 and Certification in Geriatric Pharmacy (CGP) in 2013. Currently, she is a Principal Clinical Pharmacist at Watson’s Personal Care Stores Pte Ltd.

Ms. Chung embodies the qualities for a successful community pharmacist: multi-skilled and forward-thinking with a strong focus on patients and quality. Her mission is to improve the clinical capabilities and enhance clinical pharmacy services in the community pharmacy setting.

Her commitment to the pharmacy profession is evident. In addition to patient care duties as a community pharmacist, Ms. Chung is a Certified Quit Smoking Consultant (CQSC) by the Health Promotion Board.

Being a leading member of the clinical team in Watson’s, Ms. Chung is actively involved in quality improvement projects that enhance the services provided by community pharmacists. She liaises with various institutions, including NUS and SGH for collaborative projects. In addition, she sets the direction and leads her team to develop and establish a set of therapeutic guidelines for the department, such as smoking cessation, diabetes mellitus and allergic rhinitis.

On top of that, Ms. Chung is the Vice-Chairperson of the PSS Nursing Home Pharmacists workgroup. The workgroup has produced a set of Standard Operating Procedures for nursing homes in line with the Enhanced Nursing Home Standards (ENHS) which was launched in 2015 by the Ministry of Health. She identified her clinical interests in optimizing medication regimens by performing medication reviews at nursing homes.

Furthermore, she strives to impart her knowledge, experience and skills to nurture future generations of pharmacists. Her roles as the Co-chief Preceptor for Watson’s pre-registration pharmacists and Part-time Tutor with the Department of Pharmacy, National University of Singapore are evident of that.

Being an all-rounder, she is also the recipient of Silver (2012, 2013) and Gold (2014) awards for the Excellent Service Award (EXSA) conferred by the Singapore Retailers’ Association (SRA) for her exceptional service to her patients and customers.

Ms. Chung’s commitment, attitude and aptitude set her as an excellent example to inspire fellow pharmacists to contribute and enhance the healthcare in Singapore.

Ms. Chung is humbled to be the recipient of the 2015 PSS-LF Asia Community Pharmacist of the Year award- I am deeply honoured and grateful to receive this award which would not have been possible without a strong team. My heartfelt appreciation goes out to all the supportive colleagues, peers and management whom I have worked with, both in Watson’s and other institutions. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to learn, grow and contribute to the profession. Let us continue to work together to add value to our role as Pharmacists!”
