On 24-Mar-2010, PSS has the honour of hosting the visit of fellow pharmacists from Brunei. The delegation from the Brunei Ministry of Health was here on other official functions, but made a courtesy and informal visit to PSS.

PSS was represented by Vice President - Lita Chew and Past President - Ng Cheng Tiang. Colleagues from MOH Brunei were:
a. Ms Aminah Hj Md Jaafar - Director of Pharmaceutical Services, Ministry of Health
b. Ms Rosni Jair - Principal Pharmaceutical Chemist, Ministry of Health
During the past years, Brunei has been sending their Pharmacy Technicians for the CPTC training and hospital posting in Singapore facilitated through PSS. There has been growing interest and plan in place to eventually run similar programme in Brunei, given the scarcity of the Pharmacy Technicians (PTs) and Pharmacists in the public sector, continuing the practice of sending PTs for part-time training here in Singapore (which would also mean allowing them about 1 year to be away from their workplace back home) would pose considerable resource challenge for a small pharmacy manpower pool in Brunei.
The visit was also to understand how PSS functions as a professional association for pharmacists since Brunei has yet to have a similar grouping for the 50 or so qualified pharmacists in the Sultanate state.
We are very happy to have the opportunity to meet up with old friends and share some thoughts and experience. On behalf of PSS, we would like to thank the friendship and camaraderie manifested through the meeting as wish our fellow friends success as they chart new milestones to introduce continued improvements to the pharmacy profession in Brunei.
