New Floating Dispensary for Islands
The Singapore Government Health Office is to put on extra medical services to neighbouring islands with the addition of a new floating dispensary, the Chief Health Officer, Dr G H Lowe, said yesterday.
Dr Lowe told the Rural Board that his department had just received a new launch which would take a travelling dispensary service to the islands.
At present, the islands were visited by a Government launch equipped with medicines once every 3 weeks.
Now with their new launch, the islands would be visited once a week and the service would also be extended along the west coast of Singapore to two hitherto "unapproachable places." Dr Lowe said.
Mobile Dispensaries
A hospital assistant was also visiting Pulau Tekong andUbin to start a floating dispensary service there.
Dr Lowe also announced that his Department had received two new travelling dispensaries for land work in the rural parts of the island.
This brings the number of mobile dispensaries to four.
