In the opening ceremony at IMH, a new batch of pre-reg pharmacists embarked on their professional journey to becoming registered pharmacists.

A total of 72 pre-reg pharmacists are enrolled in the programme out of the 84 that graduated from NUS this year. This event - The Pharmaceutical Society of Singapore & Singapore Pharmacy Board Pre-registration pharmacists’ Training Programme 2007/08 – has been jointly orgaised by PSS and SPB since end 1980s. This years’s Pre-reg Training Programme Chairman is Mr. Yong Keng Woh. He and his team has put together a comprehensive programme with some changes to the contents.

 

Present at the ceremony were the Chief Pharmacist of MOH Ms Ang Hui Gek, PSS President Mr. Ng Cheng Tiang, Chairman of PSS Pre-reg Training Committee and his committee members, Council Members of PSS and pharmacy manager from NUH,  NHG Pharmacy and Guardian.

One of the most significant changes has to be the instruction of competency standard framework to ensure that new pharmacists registered will have basic competency fro entry to practice. The framework covers principally 2 components:
• to record and prove competency standards in core functional areas 
• competency assessment which includes a final examinations
