Since it’s introduction some 30 years ago, the Pharmacists Registration Act, Cap. 20, 1979 has served the nation for the past decades. The Bill is now being posted in MOH website and public consultation is invited.

There will be some significant changes to be introduced and some of the key changes are:

• introduction of compulsory continuing professional education for pharmacists,
• the setting up of a Pharmacist Specialists Register,
• the introduction of a more rigorous disciplinary proceedings framework,
• the conversion of the current Singapore Pharmacy Board to a new statuary body known as the Singapore Pharmacy Council.

It is a significant change and impact all registered pharmacists in Singapore. We strongly encourage all members to vet through the Bill carefully and provide the necessary feedback.
