A Bill to amend the constitution of the Pharmacy Board and to revise the training and qualifications of pharmacists is to be introduced at the next meeting of the Singapore Legislative Council.

There has been no changes in the pharmaceutical training of pupils since 1933. It is considered that the curriculum  and standards of examinations are too low and insufficient, having regard to the advances in medicines.

The existing curriculum and standards of examination are very much below the British level.

The Bill also makes minor amendments in revise and bring up to date sections of the registration of Pharmacists Ordinance.

The New Pharmacy Board will comprise Directors of Medical Services of Singapore and the Federation, a registered pharmacist in the public service of the Colony to be appointed by the Governor, a member of the Federation Pharmacy Board, to be nominated by the body, one person nominated by the Vice Chancellor of the University of Malaya, the Singapore Chief Chemist and two Singapore unofficial appointed by the Governor to represent the Pharmaceutical Association
