Mr Anson Lim Zong Neng, a senior pharmacist at Watsons Tampines Mall is the 2016 Singapore Retailers Association (SRA) Service SuperStar award recipient. The Excellent Service Awards (EXSA) is an annual national award that recognises individuals who have delivered quality service. The SRA Service SuperStar Award is the epitome of Service Excellence and only one person is awarded with the highest honour in the Retail Industry.
Despite his busy work schedule, Anson displays much compassion and empathy to his patients and customers. “Helpful”, “Patient”, “Understanding”, “Attentive” and “Always giving valuable advice” were consistent comments given by his patients and customers.
In a heart-warming story, Anson touched a customer’s heart when he went the extra mile to help her 7-year-old daughter who suffered a cut from a fall, and was bleeding moderately. The girl was in shock and was crying profusely. Understanding a parent’s anxiety when one’s child is in pain, he immediately attended to her. He offered the little girl a stool to sit down, nursed her wound and assisting with the bandage. These efforts left a great impression on the customer who wrote a compliment to recognise his sincerity in rendering help to anyone in need.
Dedicated in reaching out to the community, Anson frequently participated in various outreach programmes, appearing on live television interviews, giving public talks, as well as writing magazines articles and patient information leaflets. As a committed member of PSS, he also chaired the Singapore Pharmacy Week committee in 2013, which served to educate the public on various medication safety initiatives.

As a certified Quit Smoking Consultant, Anson also actively engaged members of the public for smoking cessation and educate fellow pharmacists and pharmacy students on this topic. His regular interaction with the public has made some turning to him for further health advice and subsequently became his regular customers in the store.
Besides that, Anson’s exemplary performance and positive work attitude had earned him the EXSA Star and Gold Awards in 2015 and 2014 respectively, one of the Top Ten Contributors for Community Pharmacy Health Champion Programme (formerly Pharmacist Health Ambassador Programme, PHAP) in 2016, 2015 and 2014 by Pharmaceutical Society of Singapore, and featured as PSS Shining Star in 2015.

“I have always liked the working environment in a community pharmacy setting, as I enjoy interacting with patients/customers and helping them fulfill their needs. In addition, as a community pharmacist, I am glad to be able to utilise my healthcare knowledge to improve the health of my patients/customers,” said Anson.
