A revised version of the PSS Telepharmacy and Tele-Pharmaceutical Care Services Guidelines was published at the end of July 2024, featuring some exciting changes.
With the revision, Telepharmacy services can now be provided under two scenarios:
-
Situation 1: The patient calls a qualified pharmacist at a licensed pharmacy premises, with assistance from a trained staff member or pharmacy technician from another licensed pharmacy, to receive advice and medications.
-
Situation 2: The patient calls directly from their home to a qualified pharmacist at a licensed pharmacy premises to receive advice and medications.
Additionally, trained staff are no longer required to work for 3 months to learn telepharmacy; they can now undergo training at any time as long as they are deemed competent.
