Dear Members,
In April 2008, I have taken over the baton from Mr Ng Cheng Tiang as the President of the 102nd Council. This Council has 5 new members while 7 members from the 101st Council stayed on to ensure a smooth transition and continuity.
Despite their hectic workload, the following members have kindly stepped forward to serve or continue to serve on the Council:
-
- Mr Ng Cheng Tiang Immediate Past President
- Ms Lita Chew Vice President
- Dr Alexandre Chan Hon Secretary
- Dr Lou Huei Xin Asst Hon Secretary
- Mr Lim Mun Moon Hon Treasurer
- Ms Corrinne Tan Asst Hon Treasurer
- Ms Choo Wai Lin
- Ms Gail Chang
- Ms Irene Quay
- Ms Doreen Tan
- Mr Zaini Bin Ibrahim
For the next 2 years, we need to focus on increasing the number of our members, improve public visibility for our profession and improve on public education etc. We also need to work closely with Ministry of Health, NUS Pharmacy Department and all sectors on increasing number of pharmacists for patient care areas in the country, in view of the recent acute shortage of pharmacists in patient care areas. These areas are the windows of our profession where there is a big potential to create a positive impact to our consumers, patients and general public.
We started off with a Strategic Planning Meeting on 12 April 2008 with our Council members and few invited guests. Details of the plans will be shared in subsequent bulletins. We will need help to develop and implement some of these initiatives.
We hope more members, from all sectors, will come forward to contribute in whatever way they can and help the profession grow by making a difference to whom it matters – patients, consumers and the general public.
With Warm Regards
Fatimah Moideen Kutty
President, PSS
