PSS Self Care Guide - Weight Management

The Second CPE Talk from the PSS Self Care Guide series

To update pharmacists' knowledge and skills by providing a systematic, evidence-based and stepwise approach for managing minor ailments, the PSS Community Chapter is spearheading the development of guidelines on a series of topics, which will be bundled to form the PSS Self Care Guide. The guide comprises of 14 topics.

The talk on the first topic- “Vulvovaginal Candidiasis” was held on 19 Nov 2015.

The second topic- "Weight Management" was introduced on 19 May 2016, with a talk provided by Ms Jean Fong and Ms Tan Poh Leng from Watsons. They shared on the etiology, diagnosis, complications and treatment of obesity, as well as treatment algorithms and non-pharmacological counselling tips. Common supplements used for weight management were also discussed. About 50 pharmacists from various institutions attended the talk and the feedback was positive.

A big thank you to the PSS Secretariat, PSS Continuing Education Sub-Committee and PSS Community Chapter for the coordination of the event.

For those who missed the talk, fret not! The slides and case studies will be made available on PSS website and members may access the materials at their convenience in future.

We look forward to your participation in the upcoming CPE talks where the remaining topics will be launched sequentially in the months ahead! Look out for more details coming soon!
