Target Audience:

The educational design of this activity addresses the needs of pharmacists involved in the management of community acquired pneumonia.

 

Programme Overview:

Community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) is a common lower respiratory tract infection associated with high rates of hospital readmission and mortality. Many antibiotics are approved for the treatment of pneumonia; however, the rapid rise in antibiotic resistance poses a challenge in the appropriate choice of antimicrobial therapy. It is important for pharmacists to know what the optimal treatments are and how to manage patients with CAP.

 

Learning objectives:

  1. Identify the common pathogens associated with CAP and the appropriate treatment/ recommendations based on the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) updated guidelines

 

CPE credit:

1.0 Category 3A CPE Point will be awarded upon obtaining a pass score of 40 on the Post Test. Please note that there will NOT be any auto submission of CPE points. Please submit your CPE claim via the Singapore Pharmacy Council Portal.
