The PSS Community Chapter organised the first smoking cessation services sharing session on 16 May 2017 (Tuesday) from 9.00am to 11.00am at TTSH Annex 2 L1-W-T010.
The session aimed to engage smoking cessation consultants from various institutions to share their experiences in running their smoking cessation programmes in the respective institutions.

A/Prof Christine Teng, Advisor, Ms Sharene Goh, Community Chapter Ex Officio & Session Facilitator, Ms Grace Chew, Community Chapter Chairperson, Ms Carolyn Chan, ‘Start to STOP’ Programme Research Champion and Community Pharmacy Representatives and Smoking Cessation Consultants from Guardian, Unity, Watsons and NHG Pharmacy were present. Guests included Ms Ooi Swee Phaik, NUH, Ms Kng Kwee Keng, TTSH and Ms Chang Wee Ting Cassandra, SGH.

A total of 28 people attended the session.

The group discussed collecting data to reflect value of the programme, sharing on ways to achieve the best quit rate, ways to get potential clients to sign up and be committed for smoking cessation, as well as to ensure follow up and prevent defaulting.  Finally, we ended the session with an interactive question and answer session.

The overall feedback received from the attendees was positive. The sharing of best practices, resources, and experiences by various experts proved to be fruitful and encouraging.

Tapping on our collective wisdom, feedback and inputs were collated from the session to further fine-tune the upcoming PSS ‘Start to STOP’ (Speak To Our Pharmacists) smoking cessation programme.

A big thank you to all who participated in the session!
