Target Audience:

The educational design of this activity addresses the needs of pharmacists involved in advising and counseling on m in pregnant ladies

Programme Overview:

Every drug has the potential to affect pregnancy positively or negatively. Pregnant women should consult a medical professional such as a doctor or pharmacist before initiating or stopping any type of medication. However, studies regarding the safety of medications in pregnancy are limited. Through this case study, pharmacists will learn to review the potential undesirable effects of certain over- the-counter medications on pregnancy.

Learning objectives:

  1. List and differentiate the over-the-counter drugs that should be avoided or used with caution in pregnancy.

  2. Explain the reasons why certain over-the-counter analgesic medications may produce undesirable effects in pregnancy.

  3. Describe the different ways in which medications can affect a pregnancy.

CPE credit:
