Pharmacy Week 2006 will be held at Suntec City between 19-22 October, 2006. This year's theme is "Pharmacists: Walking With You Towards Better Health"

Pharmacy Week is an annual event organized by the Pharmaceutical Society of Singapore (PSS) to educate general public on “self-care” and what they should know about their medication to better health management.  We will also take the opportunity to bring about awareness to the general public on the collaborative role of pharmacists in health promotion, disease prevention and management of chronic diseases.  This event will be held over a four-day period from 19th to 22nd Oct 2006 from 11am to 8pm daily at Suntec City- The Entertainment Centre Atrium (Outside Carrefour)

The opening ceremony for this event will be held on 21st Oct 2006, Saturday, 12pm, and will be graced by Dr Amy Khor, Mayor for Southwest CDC, followed by a lunch reception.

The activities that have been planned for this event include:

• Public forums on 21st Oct 2006* pls see attached file for details
• Passports- allow people to collect stamps from every booth in order to redeem a goodie bag
• Health checks: Blood pressure, blood glucose tests, blood cholesterol tests, bone mass test, body fat analysis, biophonic scans, body mass index
• Counseling on healthy living and eating, including smoking cessation and diabetes counseling etc
• Medication review by pharmacists
• Health exhibitions displaying posters on disease management
• Stage games, balloon sculpturing and stage performance related to Health
• Colouring contest for children
• Poster theme booths displaying posters to educate public on disease management
• Free Goodie bags
• Free Livewell magazines and health drinks

We will also be launching the “Health Ambassador Program” during the opening ceremony on the 21st Oct 2006, 12pm.  This program is a collaborative project between PSS and HPB to endorse pharmacists to be health ambassador in the area of chronic diseases management and disease prevention.  A collar pin “Talk to your Pharmacist- Your Health matters” will be given out to all pharmacists during this event.
