For the second year in the row, PSS participated in the Community Health Fair 2006 in collaboration with Central CDC and Nanayang Polytechnic (NYP). About 200 elderly from Lion’s Befriender Home (old folks home) were ferried by buses to NYP’s School of Health Sciences for health screening, counselling, health talks and games etc. PSS showcased talks on proper medication use and provided medication review which benefited the elderly significantly. The Mayor of Central CDC, who was the Guest-of-honour, was briefed and impressed with the roles pharmacists can play in helping the elderly better deal with their drug and disease management issues. ![]() Drug & disease information ![]() Medication review for elderly visitors. At regional front, PSS has been actively participating and engaging our peers in the region. At the beginning of September, 3 members of PSS (including our President) was in Kuala Lumpur to attend the Malaysian Pharmaceutical Society’s (MPS) annual scientific conference. Mr. John Bell was also there after attending the FIP Congress in Brazil to discuss the contract with MPS on the Commonwealth Pharmaceutical Association’s Congress to be held in Kuala Lumpur between 1-5 August, 2007. ![]() Lighter moment at MPS with student dancers & John Bell PSS’ network with Chinese Pharmaceutical Association (CPA) was strengthened further with it’s invitation to our President to present in their National Hospital Pharmacy conference cum FIP satellite debrief meeting in Beijing. 2007 will be a busy year for CPA as it will be organizing the Asian Conference of Clinical Pharmacy in Shanghai in July; and in September, it will be hosting the 67th FIP Congress in Beijing. Obviously, there are a lot of areas that PSS and CPA can cooperate to strengthen our tie and mutually learn from each other's best practices and experienciences. ![]() Our President with the hosts from CPA.
