PRIVILEGES OF PSS MEMBERSHIP

As a PSS member, you will receive the following benefits:

Entitlement to use the post-nominal letters “M.P.S.S.” (Member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Singapore) after their names for Ordinary Members of the Society.
  
Receipt of the PSS monthly mailing which contains
 
-Ministry of Health / Health Sciences Authority directives relevant to pharmacy
-Important notices from the PSS council
-Drug Information Newsletter
-Quarterly Singapore Pharmaceutical Bulletin
-News on the pharmacy profession

Information on Society activities
  

Entitlement to special rates in attending the Singapore Pharmacy Congress, seminars, workshops, continuing professional education and other special programmes organised by our Society or affiliated organisations.

  
Eligibility for the annual overseas study awards, the “Professional Lucy Wan Outstanding Pharmacist Award” and “UCB-PSS Community Pharmacist of the Year Award”.
  
Entitlement to special privileges accorded by our affiliated organisations such as:
Commonwealth Pharmaceutical Association (CPA)
Federation of Asian Pharmaceut
ical Association (FAPA) and
Parental Drug Association (PDA)
  
Reduced rates for insertion of advertisements or professional announcements in the Singapore Pharmaceutical Bulletin and PSS monthly circular.
  
Procurement of medical and pharmacy books and Pharmacy Legislation Updates through the PSS Secretariat at special members’ rates.
  
Access to the PSS library which has a comprehensive range of pharmaceutical journals, magazines, newsletters, reports etc from various overseas and local publishers.
  
Eligibility to apply for Diners Club Affinity Card as long as their annual income is at least $30,000 as required by the Monetary Authority of Singapore. The annual fee is waived for the Diners Club Card until 2011.
  
Opportunity to network with fellow members, local and overseas pharmacists through social and forum activities.
  
Secretariat Services
  
Members can purchase patient information leaflets, medical and pharmacy books and Pharmacy Legislation Updates through the PSS Secretariat.
  
Registration of various courses organised by the Society.
  
Information about programmes and activities of the Society.
  
Continuing Education
  
PSS runs a comprehensive year-long continuing education programme which all members are strongly encouraged to participate and keep updated professionally. PSS conducts and organises the following courses:
 
-Training programme for pre-registration pharmacists
-Diabetes care and aseptic dispensing courses for pharmacy practitioners.
  
Public Education Programme
  
PSS runs a public education programme which aims to increase public awareness of the role of pharmacist through activities that identify pharmacist as a valuable health care professional who can advise people on a variety of subjects relating to medicines and health
  
Singapore Pharmacy Congress
  
PSS organises an annual Singapore Pharmacy Congress which aims to provide a forum for exchange of professional and scientific works, and ideas relevant to pharmacy and healthcare
  
Are you eligible for LIFE MEMBERSHIP?
  
 

If you are above 60 years old and have been an Ordinary member of the society for a period of 10 years or more continuously, you are eligible to become a Life member of PSS.

  
What are the privileges of Life membership?
  
 

Life members are entitled to all the privileges of Ordinary membership including the right to vote at AGM and hold office. They are not required to pay any subscription fee for life.

  
How to apply to be a Life member?
  
 

If you feel that you are eligible, please write in or fax to us a photocopy of your NRIC and contact number(s). Our Secretariat will process the application for you within a month.
