Obesity- A pill for every ill?

Question:

I am in the midst of preparation for my wedding and in a great hurry to lose weight. Is there any health supplement, which I can take to achieve my target? Is a sugar or fat blocker effective?

Answer:

The decision to start treatment, be it using medicine, or health supplement, or simply through dieting and exercise depends very much on your health condition and life style. You can visit any pharmacies with weight management programs and provide your pharmacist with information such as your height, and weight, your medical conditions and concurrent medications, and your eating and exercise patterns. In turn, your pharmacist can provide you with a tailor-made weight management plan to lose weight in a safe and effective manner. Rushing into using a slimming aid or a dieting program without proper assessment can bring about disappointment or worse… damage to your health.

There is great controversy surrounding the use of health supplements to lose weight and the golden truth to the question of whether they work or not has yet to be found. Nonetheless, the important fact is weight management is a tug-of-war between food intake and energy expenditure. With or without pill, what you eat and how you exercise in the long run will determine how well you lose weight and keep it off permanently.
