The 8th Asian Conference on Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP) annual meeting was held in Surabaya, Indonesia from 1 - 4 July 2008. Over eight hundred pharmacists and pharmacy students from 15 participating countries had a fruitful time networking to strengthen ties and to exchange ideas with one another. 
Delegates came from Australia, Canada, China, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Qatar, Singapore, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, United Kingdom, United States of America and Vietnam. The keynote speaker of the event was Prof. Mary Anne Koda-Kimble, dean of the University of California, San Francisco, School of Pharmacy, who is also the editor of her world renowned pharmacotherapy textbook “Applied Therapeutics: The Clinical Use of Drugs”. Other distinguished speakers included Prof. Alan Lau of University of Illinois at Chicago and Prof. Robert Sindelar from University of British Columbia. 
Three PSS council members and five PSS members represented Singapore at the event, including President Ms. Fatimah MK, Vice President Ms Lita Chew and Honorary Secretary Dr Alexandre Chan together with members Dr Joyce Lee, Ms. Adeline Wee, Ms. Wong Yee May, Mr Kevin Yap and Ms Yap Kai Zhen. The conference was a great success with our members actively participating in every event. President Fatimah MK conducted a plenary session “Moving Chronic Patient Care from Hospital to Community – Singapore’s Aspiration and Initiatives”, along with distinguished representatives from seven Asian countries. Dr Alexandre Chan conducted a clinical therapeutics plenary on Erythropoiesis Stimulating Agents, along with other distinguished clinical pharmacy experts such as Prof. Mary Anne Koda Kimble and Prof Alan Lau. Delegates from Singapore were also very active for poster presentations. Ms Lita Chew chaired an oral poster presentation, while Ms. Wong Yee May presented her work on“Inpatient Anticoagulation Service – the Singapore Experience” and Ms. Adeline Wee presented her project on “Medication Reconciliation at Alexandra Hospital” as oral presentations. Dr Joyce Lee, Mr. Kevin Yap and Ms. Yap Kai Zhen presented their projects as posters at the meeting. Among 139 posters presented, Dr Joyce Lee and Ms Tan Miao Ling’s project titled "Evaluation of Thiazolindinediones on Cardiovascular Outcomes in Patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus: A Systematic Review" was selected as the best poster (first place) by judges in the 8th ACCP poster presentation competition. 
In 2010, PSS will be bringing the 10th ACCP to Singapore in conjunction with the Asian Pacific Oncology Pharmacy Congress (APOPC). This is definitely an exciting time for pharmacists in Singapore, with one to proudly look back on and another to eagerly look forward to.
