Pursuant to the Registry of Society requirement, one of the obligations for every registered societies/clubs is to hold regular general meeting and elect the new office bearers to helm the organisation.
PSS’ 102nd Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held on 25-Mar-2008 evening. This year’s AGM was deliberately preceded by a CPE entitled “Update of Health Product Act”. Mr. Kelvin Tan, Head - Legislative Policy Unit of HSA vividly shared the insights and updated members and pharmacists about the latest in the Health Product Act. Pre-AGM CPE, Update of Health Product Act More than 120 participants attended this CPE between 5:00pm to 6:30pm. The session was then adjourned to a dinner prior to the start of the 102nd PSS AGM. There were plenty of opportunities for members to network, catch up with old friends and update each other about the latest. Some members even took time to scan through relevant documents eg. the past AGM’s minutes and the PSS constitution booklet etc to be better attuned to the businesses to be discussed. Some yummy....... .....then some serious digestions ! Time to get really attentive & serious ! As anticipated, the preceding session of CPE smoothly facilitated the fulfillment of minimum quorum to initiate the meeting. The AGM was then called to order by the Honorary Secretary, Dr. Andrea Kwa, at about 7:20pm. The agenda items were followed through, with the outgoing PSS President, Mr. Ng Cheng Tiang, summarized the overall highlights and low-lights of the Society for the past 12 months. The outgoing Honarary Treasurer – Dr. Camilla Wong – then presented the overall financial position of the fiscal year ended 31-Dec-07. The Society was able to record an impressive audited surplus due to some prudent measures and the increasingly diversified income streams. No! The meeting was then proceeded with some feedback discussion and some notes of advice from our veteran members, especially our past Presidents – Mr. Koe Khoon Poh and Mr. Loh Kum Chuen - who have for decades been steadfastly and passionately been providing feedback and advice to the Society and the Council.
One of the major AGM agendas was the election of a new team to head the 102nd Council. 12 nominations were received and the nominees took turn to introduce themselves to the attendees. At the close of nominations, no additional nomination was received and the meeting then voted to become the Council Members. Ms. Fatimah MK was elected to become the President of the 102nd Council and the Council was given the liberty to convene in the next Council Meeting to decide on the other office bearers. The complete line up of the new Council elected was: Ms. Fartimah MK - our new PSS President for 102nd Council. 1. Ms. Fatimah MK (new President) 2. Dr. Alexander Chan 3. Ms. Gail Chang 4.
